Los Cerritos Park Long Beach
Long Beach California has so many wonderful parks. I am still finding great ones after living here for 15 years. Los Cerritos Park is a great hidden gem. It’s tucked away in Bixby Knolls/County Club Estates near the 710 and 405 Fwy. There are tennis courts but I don’t play tennis. There’s a nice playground but what I love is the light and the trees. There are hills to run up and down. In the summer there are concerts. But mostly it’s quiet and green and just beautiful.
The family pictured here is a family I have known for several years. Assistant Number 1 and Big E (older brother) are in the same grade. The dad DJs at our school functions. E performed a hip hop act in the school talent show last year and knocked the socks off of everyone. He’s super talented. Little E is a sweetie pie. He carries around an awesome stuffed crocodile/aligator. Mom is sweet, sassy and just fun. I’m sure you can tell.

I recented attended Dad2Summit (Visit their site here) in San Francisco. I was hired by Kia Motors USA as an event photographer. But I didn’t expect what I experienced. The community was warm, open, infectious. I made new friends. I ate dinner with strangers. I met a guy who trained fleas for a flea circus! What?! I went on drives around town with people I just met. I laughed. I rode BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit). I took lots of photos because I was doing my job but I got great shots because I was inspired by the amazing people there. It was a truly wonderful experience.
About Dad2.0 from Dad2.0 Website:
“THE DAD 2.0 SUMMIT is an annual conference where marketers, social media leaders, and blogging parents connect to discuss the changing voice and perception of modern fatherhood.
More men are defying stereotypes by taking active roles in their children’s lives, making day-to-day household purchasing decisions regarding products and services, and chronicling these experiences online. The Dad 2.0 Summit is an open conversation about the commercial power of dads online, as well as an opportunity to learn the tools and tactics used by influential bloggers to create high-quality content, build personal brands, and develop viable business models.”
I met the Abrams family in December at a bris. My wonderful friend Emma had just given birth to a lovely boy named Finnley. I had never been to a bris before. It was quite an experience. I’ll share those photos soon. I met Judy and she was such a light. She asked if I did pet photography. She wanted a casual shoot with her sons, daughter in law and her furry friends. I wanted to share this session today since it took place earlier this month. The Abrams family knew that one of their gorgeous Borzoi (also known as a Russian Wolfhound) was getting near his place here on earth. His name was Luca and he passed away soon after the portraits were taken. I came over to show Jeff and Judy the photographs and we were all in tears. We hugged. I brought treats for the other doggies. I am so lucky to have met this wonderful family and to have been able to provide them with a treasure for years to come.
